John Keats, one of the principal poets in the English Romantic movement, was born on October 31, 1795, in London, England. Despite his tragically short lifespan, Keats has become one of the enduring figures of British Romantic literature with his sensual imagery, intense lyrical expression, and thoughtful engagement with themes of beauty, love, and mortality. Keats' literary oeuvre may not be vast, owing to his untimely death from tuberculosis at the age of 25 on February 23, 1821, but it is profoundly influential.
