LIS education is the most crucial input for the development of libraries. It provides the necessary strength and resilience to library and information professionals to adequately respond to the changing environment. Therefore, library education must be given the greatest attention that it deserves. Library education in India must evolve along right lines; it must be redesigned innovatively to meet the needs of knowledge-based society. The book has been primarily written to meet the needs of the teachers of Library and Information Science. It will also serve as a basic source for students of LIS for the course on 'LIS Education' both at M. Phil. and MLIS levels.
