We all live through challenges, and no one would know about them just by looking at us if we didn't tell them. In this book, you will read the story of a young woman, Rashon E. Forrest, who was born with a challenge that wasn't made known until she saw her first light in life, a challenge her parents knew nothing about. It would be 12 years into her life that she would accept that the challenge was there, not going anywhere, and she couldn't change it. So she saw it necessary to live #LifeintheDaylight despite the challenge. How did she get to that point of acceptance and seeing it as a good…mehr

Autorenporträt
Rashon E. Forrest was born with several congenital disabilities, including spina bifida, hydrocephalus, and clubfoot. At age twelve, a pastor's reading of John 9 about a man born blind helped her accept her birth defects. In this scripture, Rashon recognized how her afflictions could be a testament to the glory of God.At birth, doctors said she would not talk or walk and would be mentally challenged, but God had another plan for her journey. In the second grade, Rashon professed she was going to attend Howard University, which she did, graduating with a bachelor's of arts degree in Broadcast Journalism. A mandatory assignment turned into unlikely inspiration. She realized she loved editing and filming, starting Life in the Daylight Studios, which birthed her dearest project. In 2015, she used her degree to create a documentary to celebrate her 20 years of cognitive awareness of living with spina bifida. The documentary generated such support that encouraged Rashon to further the telling of her story in a memoir/autobiography. The book carries a message of triumph despite one's limitations. Rashon affirms, "Whatever you're going through, you can get through it."Rashon enjoys listening to music and embracing her artistic expression through creativity. In addition to video production and authoring, Rashon launched a candle-making business, Daylight Candles, on her mother's birthday in 2020. Rashon's creative projects each aim to spread awareness about particular causes, such as spina bifida, breast cancer and men's health.Rashon is intrinsically caring and guided by the spirit of John 9. For Rashon, the hardest part of living with spina bifida is the mental struggle. Still, Rashon carries a spirit of light, which echoes through all of her projects.
