Nine-year-old Katie Mayfield has a beautiful dollhouse she calls Seventy-Seven Doll Street. Within it are three of her favorite dollsTuki, Granny, and Suzi. Though her friends have outgrown playing with dolls, Katie still brings Tuki to school. One day, when AJ, the class bully, spies the doll, he starts to taunt Katie. The teacher steps in to break it up but orders Katie to stop bringing dolls to school. The following week, AJ continues to taunt Katie on the playground. When he is reprimanded again by a yard duty aid, he decides to get even. He makes plans to steal Tuki and destroy her then throw the damaged doll on Katies front lawn. AJ is thrilled to find three dolls to steal instead of just one and right from Katies room. He barely escapes being caught, but upon his return home with the stolen goods, AJ is caught in his own trap and reprimanded by a few unexpected guests. It is a surprise that shakes him to the core and causes him to think twice about bullying again.

Nicole Bissett received a bachelor's degree in journalism and media studies from San Diego State University. Her first children's story, the Nicest Little Friend, appeared in Behind Our Eyes: A Second Look. Other adult fiction stories include Secrets and a Vegetative State. She has also written profile articles for the Insurance Journal and Today's Vintage Magazine. She currently hosts a midmorning gospel music show on WFBC Internet Radio. Nicole draws inspiration for this book from the movie Toy Story and the timeless classic The Velveteen Rabbit. "As a child, it was fun to imagine my dolls could take on a life of their own and understand me," she says. "And I must admit, as an adult, it still is." Nicole spent the early part of her childhood in Whitman, Massachusetts. Currently, she lives in San Diego, California, with her husband, Harry. She has one grown son, Eddie.
