Scott Smith has not won a Pulitzer prize or a PEN/Faulkner award, but he has placed first in the Reader Views Literary Awards for Humor. Not bad for someone who didn't read much as a kid. He continues to write short stories, films, and plays and is at work on his second novel. Smith lives in Chicago with his wife and kids.
