Heather, a deaf young woman, navigates a post-apocalyptic world overrun by sound-sensitive creatures. Living in isolation on her farmstead, Heather relies on her heightened senses and resourcefulness to survive. Her solitary existence is disrupted when she encounters Ramsey, a clumsy but well-intentioned musician struggling to adapt to a silent world. Initially distrustful, Heather reluctantly teaches Ramsey her ways, their relationship evolving from burden to a fragile companionship. They journey to a nearby survivor compound led by the arrogant Marcus, who is developing a sonic weapon he believes will destroy the creatures. Heather, knowing from past experience that loud sounds attract the creatures, tries desperately to warn them, but her deafness and Marcus's stubbornness prevent effective communication.

Ignoring Heather's warnings, Marcus activates the sonic weapon, resulting in a devastating attack that leaves the compound in ruins. Forced to flee, the survivors, including Heather, Ramsey, a conflicted nurse named Lisa, and a remorseful Marcus, must rely on each other to survive. Heather and Ramsey, working together and utilizing their unique skills, attempt to lead the survivors to safety. They make it into a tunnel system, but become trapped by not only the creatures they have become to know, but a new one is approaching as well. Heather makes a stand against the creatures to give the others a chance to get away. The story highlights themes of communication barriers, the dangers of unchecked pride, the importance of adaptation and resilience, and the unexpected bonds forged in the face of unimaginable adversity.
