Autorenporträt
Thomas Neel is an accomplished artist, writer, photographer, designer, and art show judge, living in Virginia. Along with his thirty plus years as a fine art painter, his artful life has been complemented by gallery ownership, creative consulting and public speaking. Imagination never dwindled throughout his childhood, but his early love of automobiles became his first career which grew to a national sales manager position while living in Los Angles in the mid-1980s. This time in his life certainly aided in developing his business sense, which he attributes in part, to his success as an artist. But that time was also key in having him understand something essential about himself. That deep within, his calling was creativity. He decided to live his dream of becoming an artist, and his life-changing fine art career was born. With over 40 one-man shows and abundant fine art sales to his credit, Tom Neel's tranquil, scenic paintings primarily of Virginia, are the part of many private and corporate collections, both here and abroad. His commissions vary widely in subject matter. Along with his art career, Tom and his wife Linda founded Live An Artful Life ® in 2008. This was not only the name for their art gallery; the name additionally encompassed their inspirational website and their active way of life. He also created a newspaper column called The Artist's Perspective, offering creative advice and his artful life philosophy. During this time, Tom spoke with hundreds of gallery customers, his art commission clients, and children through his work with schools and including those labeled with disabilities, and their parents. Tom came to understand that many suffered what he felt was creative starvation and that the appreciation for creativity and the arts could be life-changing. He feels his greatest gift is sharing how to Live An Artful Life. www.thomasneel.com
