Stump Connolly is the political pen name of Scott Jacobs, a veteran Chicago reporter and television producer. Jacobs covered his first presidential campaign in 1972 and has written his Internet column as Stump Connolly, chief political correspondent of The Week Behind, since 1996. In 1992, he was a co-producer of three PBS Election Specials now available on DVD as ¿Road to the Presidency: Inside the Clinton Campaign.¿ His 1996 campaign reports were published as ¿STUMP, A Campaign Journal¿ and his 2004 coverage was released as ¿Talk¿s Cheap, Let¿s Race!¿ Between elections, Jacobs is a producer for Bill Kurtis Productions. He has written for Slate, The Chicago Sun-Times and Chicago Magazine. He also produced Journey to Save a Crane for the New Explorers series on PBS and Saudi Arabia: A Complicated Ally, for A & E television. He lives in Chicago with his wife and son.
