Produktbeschreibung
With wisdom and insight, psychologist Dr. Gail S. Bernstein wrote frequently about her personal experiences and the issues facing LGBT people in America today. Following her death, her brother Ralph Bernstein compiled many of her essays and an unfinished memoir into this book. Filled with passion and humanity, Gail's eloquent writing gives voice to many of the fears, hopes and dreams of the LGBT community.. A must-read for anyone concerned abot gender equality and the rights of all people.

Excerpts:

I won't let another generation of relationships come of age without role models. I won't devalue my relationship by hiding it or cloaking it in euphemisms. One night in December in the women's country bar, two young women on their way out stopped by our table to say how good my partner and I looked on the dance floor. When we were their age, there were no gray-haired, middle-aged lesbians we could look to in the same way. How can I truly celebrate and honor the depth and richness of 21 years if I cannot say it out loud?

If I'm going to be judged, let it be on whether my word is good, if I treat people decently, or if I have a good sense of humor. Look at what I've done to help a child, whether I've made the world a better place in some small way. Ask the only question worth asking about my relationship with the woman I love: whether I've loved her well enough and whether she's done the same for me.
