Autorenporträt
Richard Doddridge (R. D.) Blackmore was a nineteenth-century English novelist and a pioneer of the new romantic fiction that later inspired Robert Louis Stevenson. Blackmore's work was remarkable for its vivid descriptions and personification of the countryside, and following the publication of the classic novel Lorna Doone, he was recognized as one of the most popular novelists of his time. Blackmore died in 1904 at the age of 74.
