The short story in this booklet traces the academic career of the Jewish bee researcher Ruth Lotmar (1910-1989) and shows how Nazi Germany changed her life and forced her into a new perspective. Above all, I was impressed by her independence as a researcher and how she was always committed to new challenges. Nevertheless, Ruth Lotmar remains a research desideratum of the history of science. It would be desirable if this small publication could contribute to arousing interest in the research personality of Ruth Lotmar.
