When fate offers a second chance, can she conquer the challenges of nature and human folly to free herself from the past? Or has she misread too many novels?

Cathryn McNeil wants to believe in happily-ever-after, Jane Austen style. But a twice-divorced children's therapist whose heart is buried in a graveyard of loss is an unlikely heroine. Stuck in a small prairie town, she's resigned to her secluded life until she meets polo player Jack Stone at a funeral. They're drawn together by a mutual love of horses and the land, but his hot and cold behavior-and a family secret involving another woman-cause her to question if he can be the hero she seeks.

The powerful weather and sweeping vistas of the northern plains and the foothills of the Rocky Mountains set the mood. The cycles of nature mirror the characters' own cycles of life, loyalty, and friendship as they come to terms with love and loss, and reinvent their own roles in the circle of life.

A story of seasoned romance, friendship, horseback adventure, and family drama rolled into one life-changing journey.

Autorenporträt
SALLIANNE HINES is a great fan of all things Austen. And Tolkien, Mary Stolz, Georgette Heyer, Marie Kondo, and many more. After publishing numerous nonfiction articles and essays, she decided to try her hand at fiction and followed the adage to "write the book you want to read." The result, her first novel written, Love & Stones, a contemporary story about a seasoned heroine, which will be available September 2020. Two more novels are in progress in her Austenesque Mothers, Sisters, Friends group of books. The Pleasure of Her Company (Mrs. Dashwood's story) will launch late 2020.

Sallianne is a lifelong horsewoman, mother of three, grandmother of eight, and shares her home with a boss cat and two dogs (who give way to said cat). They all live in a little house on the prairie. Really.
