Autorenporträt
Gillian Galbraith is the author of six detective novels featuring Alice Rice, a Detective Sergeant with Lothian and Borders Police. Alexander McCall Smith said of Blood in the Water, the first book in the series: "There is not a dull page from start to finish". The other titles in the series are Where the Shadow Falls, Dying of the Light, No Sorrow to Die, The Road to Hell and Troubled Waters. Blood in the Water and Troubled Waters were among the most borrowed eBooks in UK libraries in 2020.

She also began a new crime series with The Good Priest, featuring Father Vincent Ross, a priest who through intelligence, combined with an ear for gossip, manages to solve crimes. The second in the Father Vincent Ross series is on its way. Her most recent book is The End of the Line, an unusual crime novel chosen by the Sunday Times Crime Club as one of the best crime novels to take on holiday in 2019.

Prior to taking up writing, Gillian worked for a time as an agony aunt in teenagers' magazines and then, for many years, as an Advocate at the Scottish Bar specialising in medical negligence and agricultural law cases. The majority of her work was in Civil Law but she also conducted a number of criminal trials in the High Court of Justiciary. She lives in the country with her husband and daughter plus assorted cats, dogs, hens and geese.
