Autorenporträt

Patrick Barlow wrote a stage adaptation of Alfred Hitchcock's The 39 Steps which premiered in June 2005 at the West Yorkshire Playhouse, before transferring to the Tricycle Theatre and then the Criterion Theatre in Piccadilly, as well as having productions in Australia, New Zealand and Broadway. Besides playing Desmond Olivier Dingle, Artistic Director of the National Theatre of Brent, other theatre appearances include Humphry in Simon Gray's Common Pursuit (Phoenix), Sid in Ben Elton's Silly Cow (Haymarket) and Toad in Alan Bennett's version of Wind in the Willows (RNT). Television appearances include Victoria Wood, French and Saunders, Absolutely Fabulous, Lovejoy, Class Act, Tales From the Crypt and Is It Legal. Radio includes The Diary of Adam and Eve, The Wizard of Oz and regular appearances on Quote Unquote and Looking Forward to the Past. Films include Shakespeare in Love, Notting Hill, Bridget Jones's Diary, Girl From Rio and Nanny McPhee. Other theatre and TV writing includes the Life and Times of Purcell, True Adventures of Christopher Columbus, Queen of the East and Van Gogh, for which he won a Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival, and The Judgement of Paris for the ROH Garden Venture.
