Autorenporträt
Peggy Muir is a retired teacher/anthropologist who lives in Maine. She has written many articles and dreamed of writing books. Peggy and her husband (the late artist Bryce Muir) wrote together, documenting their US roadtrip with drawings and text ( see americansabbatical.com). She is grandmother (aka "Mompy") to two bookloving boys, Silas Bryce and Luca. "Luca and the Bookstore Standoff" is a true story about the day Luca (age 4) took her to his local bookstore (the Eagle Harbor Book Company on Bainbridge Island, WA.) and refused to leave ("We haven't read ALL the books!"). It was a situation like many that parents and grandparents experience and sparked this book. Thinking of illustrators, Peggy contacted Lauren Almarode, a former student now an art teacher in Florida. Lauren did the delightfuli llustrations.
