excerpt: "Ang Lobo na Nagdamit-Tupa"

Filipina writer Ces Degamo's first poetry and prose book (in Tagalog and English) explores the poetic nature of language, translating it from the heart. Through the author's own wanderings, she offers a view of the world through her own glasses-tackling topics like love, heartbreak, dejection, family, friendships and self-love. More importantly, she delves on timely social issues that trouble the world: things like human trafficking, bullying, dysfunctional families and the COVID-19 pandemic. She even creates her take on one of Aesop's fables: The Wolf and the Lamb. All in all, Io Degamo's first book is fresh, with a whole set of new perspective on things that have lost touch with the world or clichés that have pervaded our society.

Autorenporträt
Born Joanne Giselle Mallari Degamo in Sta. Mesa, Manila, Philippines on August 15, 1991, Io Degamo is a Filipina writer and artist. She grew up reading Nancy Drew detective books and sneaking in her mom's Sidney Sheldon novels to her bedroom. She would later discover poetry in her college years. Much of her poems were about her own experiences with love, heartache, friendships, family, dejection, self-love and social issues in the Philippines and internationally. Io is an undergraduate student of the Broadcasting department at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines Open University.

Besides writing, she also dabbles in drawing and painting; enjoys watching and studying film and has one cat, Mondragon.
