In Making America Great: The Immigrant Experience, former Jamaican athlete and now naturalized U.S. citizen Sekou M. Clarke shares his unique experience navigating America as an immigrant and as an immigration attorney. His life is a representation of the American Dream, and his book breathes life into the real experiences of immigrants today and throughout U.S. history. Sekou believes it is impossible to tell the American story without stories of immigrants. He breaks down the meaning of 'We the People,' exploring the history of U.S. immigration, challenging commonly held views, and debunking the polarizing narrative that immigrants are second-class citizens, invading and robbing Americans of opportunities. Throughout this enlightening read, Sekou weaves in true stories of clients he has served. He examines the value immigrants have added to a number of U.S. industries and institutions, and invites readers to explore the theory that America has not become weaker because it became different; America became stronger because it embraced those differences. Sekou also shares his thoughts on how immigrants can evolve, adapt and most importantly, thrive in today's America.
