This is a tale of friendship based on the real characters portrayed in this childrens book. Both Captain Jimmy and Ms. Modo are known to the residents of A dock at Shilshole Bay Marina in Seattle. During the summer months of 2003, Kristen observed the antics of these cats and other creatures on the dock. All the illustrations and the story are written by Kristen R. Sierra. The motor vessel Lotus is a large part of this tale. Lotus was built in 1909. She is now moored in Seattles Lake Union near the Center for Wooden Boats. Autorenporträt
Kristen R. Sierra has lived for seventeen years on the sailboat Bristol Blue with her husband, Ned, in Seattle, Washington. She is a self-taught artist who works primarily in copper. During a sailing adventure to Mexico, she met copper master artisans at Santa Clara del Cobre in the state of Michoacan. It was while she was on the sailing trip that she also learned how to use watercolors. When not working on her artwork and writing, she is involved with boat maintenance, sailing, and Live Aboard community activities.
