Melih Cemal Ku¿han, PhD, is a Professor in the Department of Aeronautical Engineering at Eski¿ehir Osmangazi University. He has a B.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Dokuz Eylül University, an M.Sc. degree in Industrial Engineering from Anadolu University, and a Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Eski¿ehir Osmangazi University. He conducted his postdoctoral research in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at James Cook University, Australia. Professor Ku¿han has more than 180 publications on aviation and defense technology, and his publications have been cited in more than 1000 scientific studies. He has completed 20 research projects in the field of materials science and manufacturing of aerospace components. He is a member of the National Aviation Cluster (ESAC) of Turkey. Selim Gürgen, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Aeronautical Engineering at Eski¿ehir Osmangazi University. He received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Gazi University and Middle East Technical University, respectively. His Ph.D. degree is in Mechanical Engineering from Eski¿ehir Osmangazi University. He was a visiting researcher at the University of Wollongong, Australia for a project on smart materials, and worked as a researcher with the School of Transportation at Anadolu University for four years. Before his academic life, he worked as a manufacturing engineer in a joint venture of KMWE-Dutch Aero in the Netherlands for three years. Dr. Gürgen has contributed to several industrial and research projects in collaboration with major organizations such as Fiat Automotive Industry and Turkish Air Force. His projects were funded by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜB¿TAK) and European Union (EU). He has many publications in refereed international journals and conferences, and has co-authored a book and book chapters on aviation. He serves as an editorial member for different international journals. His primary area of research is materials science, in particular smart fluids and their applications in defense and aerospace applications. Mehmet Alper Sofuölu, PhD, is an Assistant Professor at Eski¿ehir Osmangazi University. He received his B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Eski¿ehir Osmangazi University. He was a visiting researcher at the University of Wollongong, Australia for a project on ultrasonic-assisted machining of aerospace materials. Dr. Sofuölu has worked as a researcher in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Eski¿ehir Osmangazi University for seven years. He contributed to several industrial and research projects in collaboration with the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜB¿TAK), and has many publications in refereed international journals and conferences. His primary area of research deals with machining operations of aerospace materials and optimization of the machining processes.
