This book is not a general theory of selected excerpts of the idea of ¿¿democracy, nor is it a political history. Rather, it is an attempt to evaluate the democratic idea, with reference, especially to the American experience, in light of its compatibility with our era. However, conforming to the democratic idea is not limited to America, but rather involves global issues in terms of purpose and application. Nowadays, one notices that there is doubt about the possibility of applying democracy to modern situations, and that some people consider it too old to be applicable in the space age. Their doubt is based on the fact that democratic opinions and systems arose in a world and for a world that is completely different from our world today. The question here is: Can a political system established by a people who did not know the industrial era, who only knew the land on which they lived, and who only had primitive technology? Can such a system have any significant meaning in a high-energy, advanced urban society? Scientifically, to the point of facilitating cosmic communications and interplanetary travel?!
