As soon as Mischa was out of the vehicle I was hurried along. I tried to watch back over my shoulder but lost sight of my wife before she got to the door of the bar.
I drove around the block and past the bar again but couldn't see Mischa inside. I did another circuit and decided to find parking up the street where I could see the front of the building.
The Boardwalk Hotel and Bar is an older style two-level structure with a laneway either side of it. The front entry has two doors in a full glass front. One door leads to the bar and the other is the hotel reception.
I could see clearly from where I had parked across the street and less than a block away. I had to get out to tap my card and pay for more parking.
I took a stroll closer to the bar and sat on a bench seat watching and imagining Mischa in there with her ex-boyfriend.
I was tense with excitement over the situation. I've always been mindful of the age difference between Mischa and I and that, as I've matured, she's looking considerably better than me.
The idea of her scantily dressed for a lunch date with a guy her own age was weighing heavy as I sat staring at the bar.
