Menneric, recently promoted to a high rank in the military by King Heriocops, is granted a short leave. While at home, he discovers a mysterious sword that changes his life completely. Upon returning to his duties, Menneric is commissioned to travel to the kingdom of Luvian, the immediate northern neighbor of Lybian, to bring back a princess who is to marry the crown prince.

During his journey, Menneric is waylaid by a trio of monstrous and dangerous giants. He vanquishes them, eliminating three entities whose aim is to conquer and rule the world. Thus, the story unfolds, and the intricate battle between men and the gods continues to unravel.
