More than 60 million people worldwide are fleeing to escape the ecological destruction of their livelihoods, as well as the devastating consequences of resources being economically plundered, but, most of all, they are fleeing to free themselves of oppression, persecution and war. Germany, too, is being affected to an unexpectedly large degree by the deluge of refugees. The chapters of this interdisciplinary volume deal with the historical and the current causes, forms and consequences of fleeing one's homeland. With articles from Miriam Fassbender, Habib El Mallouki, Lioba Meyer, Reinhold Mokrosch, Jochen Oltmer, Antonio Umberto Riccò and Eckart Stratenschulte, as well as Lena Dust, Marc Hieger and Roman Tschaikowskij.
