It was supposed to be a simple in-and-out mission, but instead turned into a fight for survival. Two boys join forces to dodge real, live, mutant monsters and pull off an escape from the bottled-up bowels of an underground detention center called the Big Ugly.
They team up with a genetically-engineered hybrid called meroMERO and a motley crew of mechanically-enhanced children. Can they break in, defeat the monsters, complete the rescue, and make it back to safety? From the depths of The Big Ugly, through pipes, caverns, and across the ocean, they embark on the adventure of a lifetime

Autorenporträt
About the author:

Pedro Alvarez is a student of mythology who searches for stories of heroes and monsters wherever they may be found. His fascination started when he was a young boy in a small town listening to community stories, and continued through adulthood, where he has traveled abroad in search of stories told by families around campfires and water holes.

Mr. Alvarez has worked with foster and adopted children for the past 25 years. Their stories of separation, loss, abandonment, and resilience are the DNA of meroMERO: The Big Ugly, where he fused them with the mythology of heroes and monsters to create a story with adventures, tribulation, and ultimately—survival.
