Al-Hanaa's message by Abu Al-Ala Al-Maarri is a living mirror of the era of intrigue and political turmoil in the Abbasid era. In this letter, Al-Maarri addresses his message to some of his senior contemporaries, but he deletes the names of the sultans and princes to avoid the consequences of praising them, given the fluctuation of power and the abundance of strife in that era. Through this letter, Al-Maarri offers a literary apology, pointing out what he called "artistic lying" that reflects the hypocrisy and injustice of the rulers. This work is considered a fine literary testimony to the Abbasid era and its turbulent events.
