The German philosopher conveys about humans some of their torments in this book, as he tells them that they are subject, even in a very private matter such as love, to the will of the species, which means that individuals reproduce and the species becomes immortal. Schopenhauer tells individuals that they are deceived by the illusion of love; Their misery and suffering with emotion are nothing but manipulation by the will to excel, and their pursuits of love are nothing but tricks of the species, at the expense of their destinies. It is simply the genius of the species to hide behind the veil of love.
