There are many poets and writers, and their literary works are images of their different personalities. But criticism is a descriptive art in its origin... and it is often impossible to be a useful art that guides writers as rhetoric does. Literary criticism has flourished since the pre-Islamic era, and later the efforts of grammarians, linguists, and writers came to it, and various books were written in it that collect its issues mixed with other issues of grammar, rhetoric, biography, and genealogy. Taste was the first ruling in its technical aspect, although some modern scholars tried to establish general laws for it that resembled scientific laws. .
