When she comes back from her visit, the cottage is gone and a beautiful mermaid appears and tells Glinda to "e;Always see the best and beauty in life and you will be mighty like the cottage."e; She suggests to Glinda that she plant purple flowers in honor of her home and all the children who have lost homes. The Mighty Purple Cottage also has a foundation, The Mighty Purple Foundation. Each year, three children who have lost homes, are awarded $500 to purchase items that make them feel secure.
