In his book "The History of Modern Egypt", the encyclopedic thinker, Jerji Zaidan, used the modern research curricula to study and narrate historical events, and was distinguished by his challenge to the norm prevailing among historians in his time, as they were based on what was reported from the ancients without verifying the validity of the information. Zidane has monitored in this book the history of Egypt since the era of the Pharaohs, through the Islamic conquest and the succession of the rulers and Islamic countries over Egypt, until the situation during the era of Mamluk rule and the political and cultural earthquake that the French campaign against Egypt brought against, then the Alawite family of Muhammad Ali and his grandchildren until the time of the book was written.
