Chery James taught elementary school in Oklahoma and Texas for twenty-four years. She has been married to her high school prom date, Terry, for forty-two years. They have two daughters, two sons-in-law, and six grandchildren. Chery writes children's Bible curricula, plays the guitar, and speaks at women's conferences. Chery and Terry live in Eastern Oklahoma in the foothills of the Ozarks with their dogs, Dorothy and Alice. They serve a risen Savior, the Lord Jesus.
