Kirsten Joan has been writing since age seven and never stopped. She has been a counselor for children and adults as well as a college educator. She started GRITtales to normalize and increase representation of disabled characters in children's fiction.

Given a diagnosis of MS in 1999 and now using an electric scooter to get around, when she is not writing she awaits the invention of a pair of wings to use instead of a scooter.
