It was Mother's Day and Robert Allman tried to prepare for the occasion. Tradition held that, when worshippers attended church on Mother's Day, those whose mothers were alive wore red roses. Those whose mothers had passed-like Robert's-would wear a white rose. However, after he could only find a red rose to wear, he never dreamed-not in a million years-what was in store for him.

"Sweet remembrance of Mom"

"Bob, Clara, and little Johnie are headed to church on Mother's Day. They need to pick up roses on the way there from the little store run by Alma. However, she's all out of white roses so Bob gets three red roses even though his mom passed 9 years ago. This tale had a small town feel to it and could be set in any decade from the last 100 years. Well, provided that there were jawbreaker candies back in 1917. The day starts off pretty normal for Bob but once he walks out of that little store with his red roses, he has an unexpected visit from his deceased mother. It's an engaging story of a mom touching base with her adult child after some years have passed though she has limited time. I like how she easily steered the conversation to all the important bits, including asking after Bob's sister Edna. It's a perfectly quaint tale fit for a family listen or if you're just looking for a little something upbeat during your lunch break. Five stars all the way!" - Amazon reviewer
