Autorenporträt

Hughes's career in the United States Navy included tours of duty aboard the nuclear submarine, USS Francis Scott Key (SSBN 657) as well as a tour of duty in Vietnam. He retired in September 1976 after twenty years of service. After retirement, he obtained certification as a Physician Assistant from the Medical University of SC followed by graduate and postgraduate degrees from the University of North Carolina, Charlotte. Born in Waynesboro, Virginia, the author now resides in Salisbury, NC where he works as a Physician Assistant at the William "Bill" Hefner VAMC. Although his previous novels, Darcy Miller and The Wedjat, were psychological thrillers, Hughes steps outside of this genre with Mulberry Street by blending childhood misadventures with an allocate of history to deliver a story that touches both the heart and the mind.
