This book is about my true life story. My autobiography. My life reminds me of the character Celie in the movie "The Color Purple". My entire life growing up was that of a "slave". I was not raised like a normal little girl should have been raised with pretty dresses, hair bows, shiny shoes, lace socks and beautiful dolls. The only doll I had resembled a clown with long legs and long arms with pink cheeks and chubby jaws and raggedy shoes. We were not allowed to celebrate holidays such as Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, and we never received Birthday gifts.

Autorenporträt
My name is Lauretta Brown and my book would be helpful to those that consider life is over when you are down. You are actually just beginning again when you fall. I fell down and I got back up. It wasn't easy. I had to keep on going. I had a little family to take care of. Everybody told me I would not make it but look at me now. I received my General Education Development in 2008 and a degree in Criminal Justice in 2014. I want each and every individual at any age to know that it is never ever to late to make it. I consider myself extremely blessed. I didn't ask anyone for help. My future goal is to be securely successful. I want to continue to learn new things and to keep growing. I want to know and accept who I am. I am happy and so grateful that I could turn a negative to a positive. I am thankful for my past troubles because I learned how to take advantage of it. Its called self motivation. I am a strong, intelligent and persistent woman creating my dreams. I have come a long way just to get this far. I struggled for a long time to get where I am. I never gave up. It doesn't matter what you go through in life. You can't look back just keep moving forward. It will get better and you must believe it. Be thankful when you are tired and weary because it means you have made a difference. I would love for my grandchildren to know you never get to old to learn and that you do make a difference. Love yourself and GOD everyday.
