Autorenporträt
I was born and raised in Dagenham and attended Rush Green primary school until the age of twelve before attending Eastbrook Secondary School for Boys. It was a tough school, and many a fight occurred almost on a daily basis, and injuries were very commonplace. I had a difficult upbringing due to a very strict father, whose way of solving any problems was to beat me. Conversation was something other people did, but not in our house. At sixteen, I finally made the break and ran away from where I lived on the Yorkshire moors, for a time living in a tent. At twenty-one, I managed to immigrate to Australia in 1974. I have held many varied occupations before enlisting in the Australian Army, and upon discharge twelve years later, I joined the NSW ambulance service, where I remained for the next twenty-three years until my early retirement at the age of fifty-eight. My wife and I relocated to a small country town in NSW, where we now live and are very happy together.
