Autorenporträt
Jaki Elliott lives in Melbourne Australia. By the time she had completed this book of modern youth prose at the age of 20, Jaki had experienced a cult-like family childhood before a grim family breakdown and, alongside her traumatised mother and four siblings, emergence into the world outside. She experienced targeted emotional abuse from her bipolar stepfather and sexual interference from her teen step-brother. She found herself homeless, living in a shed with an older brother before finding her feet through better work and living opportunities. Even once she was able to support herself the curve balls never stopped being thrown. Finding security in her living situation was short lived after years of battling trust issues and finally finding it in herself to trust the ones around her new sense of security in her living situation was short lived. Just before she finally made the choice to sign to a publishing company and let the world see more into her thoughts and where they come from, her trust was yet again broken by someone she called friend, but Jaki has always been a believer in the traumas that happen to us aren't what define us. She does warn to proceed with an open mind do not lose yourself in the pain you might relate to in these pages but heal with her and watch as she lets you into her mind with trust, love, and care Jaki has shared her inner thoughts in the public domain and challenged others to look at life, relationships and the ways we think through new eyes. There is more but some things are too hard to say straight so they are uncovered in the bold, emotive and brave prose contained in these pages.
