Prof. Dr.-Ing. Berend Denkena promovierte 1992 am Institut für Fertigungstechnik und spanende Werkzeugmaschinen (IFW) der Universität Hannover. Ab 1996 führte er bei Gildemeister Drehmaschinen den Bereich Entwicklung und Konstruktion. 2001 wurde er als Leiter des Instituts für Fertigungstechnik und Werkzeugmaschinen der Universität Hannover als Nachfolger von Herrn Prof. Tönshoff berufen.
