Autorenporträt
Herma Klaassen was born in the Netherlands but fell in love with Ireland when she was working there as an au-pair in 2000. It was during a stay in Westport with a magnificent view of the Croagh Patrick that she finished her first novel. From that moment on she knew she wanted to be a writer. Before she went to Ireland she auditioned to become a drama teacher. She didn't make the selection, but they gave her the advice to become a writer.
She works as an English teacher at a secondary school and also as an educational author, writing grammar books. She is passionate about grammar.
She writes because she loves writing and if she doesn't write her head would explode from all the stories in her head. Mostly her stories are about her beloved Ireland and she goes to Donegal once a year to learn Irish. So far, the language is still a mystery to her. But she is convinced that one day she will master the language. Until that time, Donegal and Dublin provide a scenery for her stories so she can dream away a little every day when she is writing.
