"Notes from the Dead House" - a work of Fyodor Dostoevsky, consisting of the same story in two parts, as well as several short stories; written in the years 1860-1861. The narrative is documentary in nature and acquaints the reader with the life of imprisoned criminals in Siberia in the second half of the 19th century. The writer artistically comprehended all that he had seen and experienced in four years of hard labor in Omsk (from 1850 to 1854), being exiled there in the case of Petrashevists.
