Written as complete self-help comprehensive textbooks, these two volumes cover the three broad topics of nuclear physics, particle physics and cosmology in a consistent and engaging manner. Volume 2 consists of 17 chapters and covers particle physics and cosmology. There are 12 chapters describing particle physics and is aimed at understanding and classifying the many sub- nuclear particles and the forces of nature as well as making a detailed study of standard model of particle physics and referring to other recent advances in the relevant field. There are chapters devoted to introducing relativistic quantum mechanics, quantum field theory and group theory. Chapters on cosmology describe the dynamics of the universe. The components of universe have been discussed and its age calculated.

A key characteristic of this book is not only asking questions, but answering them, and therefore this text would satisfy undergraduate and postgraduate learners and help generate more queries for the inquisitive.

Autorenporträt

Dr Jyotirmoy Guha is an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Physics at Santipur College in West Bengal, India. He stood 1st class 1st in both his BSc and MSc from Kalyani University, and completed PhD in quantum cosmology. Books authored by Dr Guha include: Quantum Mechanics (Theory, Problems and Solutions), published in 2012 (3rd edition in 2019); Solid State Physics (Theory, Problems and Solutions), published in 2018 (2nd edition in 2019); Modern Physics Vols I and II, both published in 2020; and Quantum Optics and Quantum Computation: An Introduction (co-authored), published by IOP Publishing in 2022.
