This is a collection of twelve authentic Old West recipes from pioneer days and passed along over the generations. The recipes are from different sources, handed down by great grandmothers, grandmothers, aunts, and of course uncles (really?!), and have been adapted to today's cooking (such as oven temperatures, measurements in cups instead of handfuls). Some contain notes explaining what the items are (like "teeth of garlic") so you'll know what the ingredients originally were and/or what to do with them now. You can actually try out the recipes on your friends and family for fun and eating pleasure. Recipes include Johnny Cake, Rye 'N' Injun, Spoon Bread, Bierocks, Vinegar Pie, and more.
