You are living in a fatherless world. But God is re-fathering the world! We are in a sense born fatherless, whether we have earthly fathers or not. This is a result of the terrible thing called sin and death. Earthly fathers, even in their best efforts, cannot entirely give children the fathering they need, because they are never fully connected to the heavenly Father in this life. But we first need to discover our fatherlessness before we can be re-fathered. I recently discovered my fatherlessness. It was a terrible and wonderful day. Terrible in that it felt like a part of me had died a long time ago, or had never even been born, and I was only realising it now. It was wonderful in the sense that I was now ready to be re-fathered by God.

In my newfound fatherlessness, I turned to my heavenly Father, and began to journal to him. And something amazing happened: I had the faith to hear him writing back and I would write what I felt he was saying to me. These words that I heard guided me through the most difficult things in my life and it was like I now had a father again. A Father, that was always there, that believed in me, that spoke the truth with me, that showed me the ways of the world.

I am now turning these journals into letters to my children, that they may also be fathered by God, but also so that anyone can benefit from them.

"Letters to My Children: On Marriage" is the second of a series of 6 free ebooks I plan to write. The topics will be love, marriage, children, divorce, eternity and heaven and everlasting love. I plan to combine all ebooks eventually into a print book, the proceeds of which will all go to the poor.
