Betty Ann grew up in Memphis in the 1960s, a decade of tremendous turmoil in the United States. Corinne came to work for her family in 1959 when Betty Ann was five years old. The two developed a friendship the moment Corinne lifted Betty Ann off the ground and sat her on the kitchen counter to tell her about the pearly gates of Heaven. From that point on an unbreakable bond was created that surpassed the turmoil of the times. Corinne became Betty Ann's spiritual teacher, comforter, and protector in body and in spirit.
