Sumit (Sam) Garg, MD is Vice Chair of Clinical Ophthalmology, Medical Director, Director of Technology, and an Assistant Professor in Cataract, Refractive, and Corneal Surgery at the Gavin Herbert Eye Institute at the University of California. Dr. Garg has participated in research related to the use of lasers in corneal transplantation and collagen cross-linking for keratoconus. In addition to his research activities, Dr. Garg has authored numerous book chapters including chapters on LASIK, PRK, PTK, ophthalmic imaging, and femtosecond laser assisted keratoplasty. Dr. Garg currently serves on the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) Young Physicians and Residents committee and as an associate eye bank director for SightLife. He has been recognized as a "Rising Star" in Best Doctors and Super Doctors.

Roger F. Steinert, MD is Chair and Director of the Gavin Herbert Eye Institute at the University of California where he holds joint appointments as the Irving H. Leopold Professor of Ophthalmology and Professor of Biomedical Engineering. He has authored and co-authored 4 textbooks, including the definitive text, Cataract Surgery, which is in its third edition. He has published over 130 peer-review journal scientific articles and over 110 book chapters. Dr. Steinert is a member of the Governing Board of ASCRS and served as President of the society from 2005 to 2006, as well as Chair of the Annual Program from 2004 to 2013. He serves as an Associate Editor of Ophthalmology, the journal of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO). He has had 16 visiting professorships and presented 19 named lectureships, including the 2004 Binkhorst Lecture at ASCRS and the 2008 Barraquer Lecture at AAO. He has received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology and has been selected by his peers for inclusion in every edition of Best Doctors in America and America's Top Doctors. Ophthalmology Times named him one of the top 100 ophthalmologists in North America.
