Dalton is the Founding Director of the National Science Foundation Science and Technology Center on Materials and Devices for Information Technology Research, Director of the DARPA MORPH program, and Director of two Department of Defense MURI Centers. He received the American Chemical Society Award in the Chemistry of Materials, and the IEEE/LEOS William Streifer Scientific Achievement Award. He is a Fellow of the American Chemical Society, the Materials Research Society, the Optical Society of America, the SPIE, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
