In the United States, political upheavals, petty party hatred, and social failures have caused states to consider secession from the Union. The Supreme Court, while making it, per se, illegal, has left the door open for open revolt as a form of secession. This is the story covered by expert reporter Maddie McKenna of California, Oregon, and Washington conspiring to secede from the Union to form their own nation of Pacifica. What follows is a thriller of intrigue, murder, and plots to save democracy and the United States Union.
