Great nations are built on the framework of visionary plans. Papua New Guinea is poised to be a nation to be envied upon. For this purpose, the Government has envisioned the creation of a new society by 2050 which is expected to be smart, wise, fair, healthy and happy. But it is not an easy path. It requires the cooperation of political leaders, political parties, tapping of all resources, change of attitudes and mindset among the people, particularly the younger generation. The Vision document has been much debated before it was given momentum in 2011, It was also intended to be reviewed from time to time to ensure that the irritants it might have come across should not impede its further implementation. The book, inter allay covers the mission statement, the ways and means to achieve the target, outlines the change in attitudes and mindset, 1 suggests ways and means to overcome the irritants, emphasises on the need for consistent endeavours, change in key factors, role of wisdom and knowledge, works out the strategic plans and their implementation, role of stakeholders, approach towards political stability', institutional development and service delivery, underlines the need for human development for knowledge economy, national and International relations, points out challenges for implementing the plan, and the need for high morals and ethics. The book is intended to be a source of information about the historic document apart from being a critique to evaluate and draw the attention of politicians, legislators and policy-makers and those who are entrusted with the task to implement PNG Vision 2050. II should also be a useful book for all school, college, institutional and university libraries to enlist the cooperation of young and old persons for its successful implementation.
