What is my book series about?

There have been so many books about buying and renovating a run-down property in France. A good number of books are written about buying a vineyard or an olive grove. Then there are more books about touring France in 2CV or a horse and cart or even on foot. Or books just about living in an ex-pat community.

What is it like to briefly cross the channel and experience France and its people but sadly having to return to your 'normal' working life back home in England. Can you grow to love France and still feel immersed in its culture by taking fleeting visits for a couple of weeks, a few days or even a weekend?

I want to show you that you can do just that and inspire you to visit this wonderful country. The books are also about the people we met, many are still friends today.

This is not designed to be a guidebook but if you want to follow in my footsteps then you are very welcome. They go in a wonderful direction.

I hope though, that you will discover your own amazing places and people and this book tells the story from the very beginnings of our love affair with French travel.

It has been a remarkable ride for a reluctant traveller.

Neal is an established and extensively published French Travel writer with an aim is to impart his passion for France to his readers. Neal has travelled extensively in France with his family and friends and acted as 'tour' guide to others over the years.

Neal lived and worked in Lancashire, England and found the joy of travel later in life after a conservative travel upbringing that stretched only as far as stopping the car falling into the sea at the English coastline.

He now lives in Somerset close to his granddaughter and family and on the wonderful South West coastline that we enjoy so much. Neal loves the English game of Cricket, which he plans to write about soon, golf, soccer and photography. He has a great love of History and that is reflected in his writing.

His travels started disastrously but was embarking on a French Travel love affair that endures to this day.

Most of all Neal hopes to inspire you to travel and you will laugh and cry at his experiences.

It has been a lot of fun - please come again with him.

The first book is about travelling to French Catalonia for his first taste of traveling abroad - it was quite a trip believe me and you will love to read about all the joys and disasters. The second is Neal's 20 year love affair with Provence. His very personal memoir of Paris follows that. The latest book is all about French wine and how to find the very best that the country can offer the adventurous traveller.
