This text emanates directly from Sentieri di escursionismo ambientale, an advocacy web project on issues of sustainability and environmental communication supported by Fòrema and Assindustria Venetocentro in the second half of 2021.
The book starts from an assessment of the complexity inherent in sustainability that unfolds both at the level of institutions, citizenship and territory and at the level of companies, but which at the same time is capable of producing positive values in the medium to long term for the economy, society and the environment.
Originating from these arguments, the authors' choice was clear and definite: to tell the story of corporate performance with respect to the general theme of sustainability, a path that each organization builds according to its own history, values and the needs of the
market. Seven companies that differ in type, size and sector tell us how investing in sustainability translates into a competitive and distinctive advantage for a company, whose benefits virtuously fall back on the territory, along the value chain and in the markets of
reference markets. Businesses are called upon to use their creativity and capacity for innovation to meet the challenge of sustainable development by governing complexity, measuring their impacts, setting ambitious targets for improvement, and, not least,
communicating their journey in a consistent and transparent manner.
