"The Monuments of the Historic Literature" - is a new series of e-books created by the Multimedia Publishing House named after Strelbitsky. The works of varied genres entered this series: historic novels and novellas, scientific works on history, popular scientific sketches and essays, chronicles, biographies, memoirs and even the Russian tsars' essays. "Peter the Great. Historical Investigation" - is a work by the Polish historian, writer and publicist K. F. Waliszewski. The book was written in 1897. This is not a biography in pure form, but exactly "investigation". The most valuable in it is that the author states an unusual point of view about Peter. His reforms, the author thinks, in many aspects were random. The desire to travel along Europe and learn different sciences and crafts was generated only by an amusement. The breaking of the behavior of the surrounding boyards - was just the tsar's "caprices". The author writes about the tsar's merits as well as about the tsar's vices.
